OUTER BANKS GEEK

Miscellaneous Outer Banks Stuff and Tips

The Outer Banks is a popular location for both travelers, nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts, boaters, birdwatchers and surfers.

If you only plan to spend a week here - I would recommend these as the MUST SEE spots.

Spend a day at the historic Manteo waterfront on Roanoke Island. Grab a lunch at Poor Richards and head out for a cruise on the water with one of the many charter and/or fishing boats. You don't have to spend a fortune if you want to just go for a couple of hours. It's a blast and still a relatively unknown activity amongst most visitors to the Outer Banks.

A sunny morning at Elizabethan Gardens is unforgettable. It's beautiful and can't be beat during nice weather.

If your looking for good food on the Outer Banks, we can recommend a few places.

For a quick burger and fries - Try Spanky's.

Rundown Cafe is great for a relaxed atmosphere with good food and cold beer! They have wines too.

Grab a delicious gourment coffee and cheese danish from the friendly girls at The Bean Drop. They roast their own beans on site. And don't miss the excellent Native Vine wine cellars right next door. They offer wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings. It's a fun way to try some new wines and visit with many of the locals.

Tortugas Lie is usually hopping with a bit of a wait, but its worth it because the food is good and the place is fun.

Red Sky Cafe in Duck has great food in a somewhat finer dining setting although it's not too stuffy.

For quality tile and flooring installation, see DC Tile Works.
